How to Do It

Follow these steps to take a cold shower:

  1. Turn on the water and set it to cold but not ice cold.
  2. Start with your feet because they get used to the temperature fastest. Then proceed with your lower body up to the stomach.
  3. Proceed with your hands and arms, then splash the water over your torso.
  4. Carefully put your head under the shower. Be aware that you’ll start breathing heavily so do not inhale any water through your nose or mouth.
  5. Finish with the back. This is the hardest part because there are millions of nerve fibers in your spine, so you’ll be feeling something like an electrical impulse.
  6. Congratulations - you’ve finished taking a low-temperature shower.

Benefits

The cold showers health benefits are as follows:

  • Improved metabolism. Cold water activates the so-called “brown fat”, which is a “good” type of fat, as opposed to the “white fat.” The brown fat is responsible for burning the calories to keep the body warm.
  • Glowing skin and shiny hair. Low-temperature water causes the hair cuticles and skin pores to close, preventing the dirt and oil from getting inside.
  • Good mood. Cold water releases endorphins - the happiness hormones.
