Why it works

  • Kale juice improves memory and protects against cognitive decline that often accompanies aging. One study of mice suggested that kale’s effect on cognitive health is caused by and increased number of ‘heat shock’ proteins in the brain[5].
  • Kale juice may also delay physical aging by reducing damage to DNA. This is also how kale juice can protect against cancer[1,3].
  • Heart problems can be caused by high levels of LDLs (a type of cholesterol). Kale juice increases the amount of HDLs (a different type of cholesterol) in the blood, which are much healthier than LDLs[4].

Side Effects

  • When mixing kale juice with other ingredients, they should also be healthy. If you put kale juice in an unhealthy drink, it does not transform into a healthy drink.
  • If you are taking blood thinners, ask a health professional about kale juice as it may thicken your blood due to it’s high vitamin K content.
